Hello! I'm Tommy Skidmore, a graduate student pursuing a Master's of Computer Engineering from Virginia Tech. I recently graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Computer Engineering with a major in Controls, Robotics, and Autonomy and minor in Cybersecurity. My journey has been driven by a fascination with merging hardware and software to create innovative solutions, and never being afraid of a new challenge.My hands-on experience involves both software and hardware skills. Skilled in C++, Python, and JavaScript, I have designed software ranging from network applications, to highly efficient embedded system code, to controllers, to machine learning, to cloud architecture! My internship experiences have involved creating an obstacle avoidance system to ensure safe navigation of a unmanned aerial vehicle and creating machine-learning solutions for time forecasting of drone deliveries to improve customer satisfaction and airspace allocation. I also have experience with hardware. My capstone project involved creating a software defined FMCW radar system using tools like Xilinx Vivado and MATLAB.
