Having spent the first 18 years of my life living in South East Asia (Singapore, Brunei), I have been provided with a unique opportunity to experience a plethora of different cultures, customs and ways of life. I feel this period of my life has played a vital role in moulding me into the person I am today. I have proficient skills in the Malay language, and feel I have a unique global vision. I possess the ability to remain empathetic and remain open to the mindsets and ways of thinking from all walks of life. My participation in two British International Schools furthered this ability immensely. During my final years of my high school education, I was among a cohort of pupils with fifty five different nationalities represented.During my time studying at Swinburne University of Technology, I have had the privelidge of being a SCANLON Swinburne Intercultural Fellow. This fellowship involved the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the SCANLON Institute, as well as Swinburne University. Myself and one other individual were sent to India and Indonesia to interview prominent politicians, journalists and academics about their respective country's approach to social cohesion and diversity. We used this knowledge to write a report about how Australia could use this knowledge to make Australian society as cohesive as possible. I am currently a university student and work at Club Retro as a supervisor. I have accumulated over four years of experience doing a variety of work within hospitality under several reputable, high capacity venues and establishments across Melbourne. Working at these establishments has given me the ability to work efficiently under high stress situations in a broad range of different environments and roles. I am punctual, hardworking, and won’t leave until the job’s done. Within my time in hospitality I have developed skills in management, bartending, bar back work as well as front of house waiting work. I am always excited and willing to leave my comfort zone and learn new things.
