About Thomas Strand
Both professionally and individually I'm a natural problem solver. I analyze the issue and devise a strategy on how to best overcome it and move to the next challenge. In my mind the process of working a problem, in any way, shape or form is always a way of moving forward. Working on these challenges I enjoy collaborating with others in order to reach the best possible solution. Sometimes that means that I am the one delegating tasks and sometimes it entails that I do the elbow grease task. The outcome is always the important part, not always the steps I take to get there.
Listed skills include Aircraft, Aeronautics, Aviation, Airports, and 23 others.

Co-Owner
Aircraft Performance Engineer
My employment started with a main focus on existing customers. This quickly expanded and during the majority of my time in DynamicSource I have also handled areas such as quality, documentation, testing, troubleshooting and scripting language configuration. I have also been heavily involved in resource management and planning for new implementations as well as the ongoing development for existing customers. The width of these responsibilities has given me experience in handling complex situations both internal and external. A central part of all my positions at DynamicSource has been communication in all forms. No matter internal or external, written or verbal, communication is key to success. My personality and interest in moving the product in the right direction has allowed me to hone this trait through leading projects and implementations, collecting and refining requirements and making product demonstrations for executive decision makers for new clients among many things.Working with several airlines in many different countries has granted me a wide knowledge base about airline operations and a very big network of people working at OEMs, airlines, collaborative partners and organizations such as IATA. * Project, Team and Resource Management* Cross functional coordination* Testing and troubleshooting* Basic programming skills (Scripting language and Python)* Quality work and documentation* Aircraft Performance Engineering
Utvecklingsingenjör / Projektledare
The projects I worked on at Uponor were performed in an international environment. That meant both that the deliverables should be possible to use in multiple markets, thus adhering to different local regulations, but also that the project teams were represented by many countries and markets. I was involved in projects for development of plumbing components and systems as well as IT related projects within my department. * Project Management* Product development
Performance Engineer
Working as a Performance Engineer means to:* Create safe contingency procedures for the pilots to follow in case of an engine failure during take off* Optimize the procedures for each aircraft type for the operator, to allow as much passenger and/or cargo load as possible* Help the operators with specific authorizations on special airportsApart from these parts, I have also been involved as:Team Leader (Waterloo, ON - Canada, January 2011 - May 2011)During my stay in Waterloo I assumed the role as team leader for the newly started group. Product Development (Stockholm and Waterloo, ongoing since late 2009)I have been continuously involved in the development of products within and outside of our department. This has lead to a new production tool which saves us a lot of time daily. The level of cooperation between production and development has lead to a system in which can very easily build in new functionality to further reduce workload with repetitive calculations, but first and foremost increase the accuracy of the data.Through this position I have acquired a lot of knowledge in MS Excel VBA and .NET C#. Training responsibility (Stockholm and Waterloo, ongoing since February 2010)As part of a project to train new staff quicker and better, a new training package was created in the start of 2010. With this package the training period was shortened from about 1 year to approximately 4-9 months, depending on the previous knowledge of the new employee. This training package has been added to the quality certification and has been used to check out three new employees in Stockholm, and it has laid down a very good foundation for the new staff in Waterloo. Acting Team Leader (Stockholm, June - December 2010)I assumed the role as team leader during the paternity leave of our ordinary TL. The main responsibility for the TL is to prioritize and divide out the incoming tasks on the group resources.
