As Scientist in Fermilab’s Applied Physics and Superconducting Technology Directorate (APSTD), Thomas' background is that of an experimental physicist with over 15 years' experience in R&D for new detector technology, magnet R&D and particle physics measurements. Thomas is the group leader of the Accelerator Support Group in APS-TD's Magnet System Department. He is the PI for the Oakridge PPU and STS magnet contributions from Fermilab. He is also a Level 2 deputy project manager for the US magnet contribution to CERN's High Luminosity Accelerator Upgrade, working on the Cryostat Assembly with BNL, LBNL and CERN. He is the Sponsoring Office Technical Representative for the Corrector Magnet Package in the LCLS-II HE project with JLAB and SLAC. He is the L4 manager for the FNAL produced conventional PIPII upgrade magnets.Thomas created the first Strategic Partnership Project with ITER Organization at Fermilab. The remainder of his time is spend on calibration of sensors for future experiments at Fermilab like the Hall Probe Calibration and Cold Mass Position Monitors for Mu2e, or collaborations with international partners like KEK in Japan.
