Media Suite MerchandiserA Technical Team Lead working on Cisco's (formally NDS) Media Suite Merchandiser project, a content management system for Video On Demand IPTV systems.I led the technical design and implementation of this complex distributed and scalable Java based system through the entire product lifecycle. This includes doing the initial system and data model designs, through technology selection, leading implementation, stabilisation and delivery and post live on-site development support. There were a continuous stream of new feature requests on the product, for which I would write feature specifications capturing the requirements, design and implementation details. I would then estimate the work required for these and guide the implementation and testing of the new functionality, acting as scrum master or product owner where appropriate. As team leader I was responsible for directing and coordinating the work of an international team, both as a scrum master coordinating the workload and priorities, and a technical lead reviewing and guiding implementation decisions, ensuring the quality of the code and automated tests were maintained and providing technical leadership on the evolution of the product.I also helped manage the support of the product. This includes responding promptly to support requests from integration and support teams, providing immediate answers, analysis or fixes where appropriate and possible, spending time on to identify and fix the issue myself, or delegating and prioritising it to the team based on their skills, availability the relative priority of the issue. As part of this I also attend progress meetings with project managers and customers.I also played a significant contributing in supporting and migrating from legacy build systems onto the use of Jenkins and Gerrit/Git alongside automated testing and continuous integration.
