Part of TATRC with a tri-service focus, the AFSIM mission is improving military medical training through scientific research and development of advanced technology in the fields of robotic training systems, virtual human agents, virtual reality environments and serious games.

At TATRC, I managed the largest medical simulation R&D portfolio in the country including 150 research efforts worth over $275 million. Through this work, I conceived and/or created the JPC-1a medical simulation, the Combat Casualty Training Consortia, DTME Physiology Research Platform, open source initiatives, game-based training initiatives, VR rehabilitation efforts and other innovative ideas.

As a pediatrician in the US Army, I enjoyed a large panel of complex patients and served as a medical director for a primary care department. Responsibilities included inpatient care, some critical care, neonatal medical care, acute care and maintaining an outpatient medical home for my patients and their families.

I served as a lecturer, subject matter expert, course director and chemical casualty consultant at this world leading medical research institute for chemical casualties. Noteworthy accomplishments include authorship of SIMapse nerve agent laboratory, Nerve Academy Software and contributions to the Textbook of Military Medicine.
