As a Research Fellow and MPSNI-certified pharmacist at Queen's University Belfast, I have over three years of experience in conducting cutting-edge research on antibiotic drug discovery, environmental microbiology, and microbiomes. I work with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and clinicians to explore the potential of extreme halophilic microorganisms as a source of novel antibiotics and bioactive compounds.I have developed and applied various bioinformatics tools and techniques to analyze metagenomics, transcriptomics, and meta transcriptomics data from anaerobic digestion systems and hypersaline environments. I have also used biofilm models and antimicrobial resistance assays to evaluate the efficacy and mode of action of natural products. My research has resulted in multiple publications, presentations, and collaborations with academic and industry partners. I am passionate about finding innovative solutions to address the global health challenge of antimicrobial resistance and contribute to the sustainable development of biotechnology.
