I worked closely with Al Brophy (Judge John J. Parker Distinguished Professor of Law) researching various legal history topics, including some dusty tomes in the Wilson Library collections. Professor Brophy was a good friend and mentor for me throughout law school.

Working for FSB gave me a glimpse of the emerging "virtual firm" model. I performed a lot of legal research and writing (as one would expect for a legal intern). During this time, most of my work was focused on research and litigation prep for a case that encompassed a wide variety of property, tort, and equity issues, including Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices and a RICO conspiracy claim.

I worked mainly in civil litigation matters, focusing on discovery and trial preparation for a personal injury case and a complex lawsuit involving a master homeowners association and a sub-association. I also had the privilege of observing and working on some adoption matters, including one that was eventually decided by the North Carolina Supreme Court in 2014.
