This construction is more like timber framing than conventional framing. I was also in charge of rebuilding the caps (beams) underneath the ocean front storage and service sheds. I designed and built twelve 30' 10"x10" glulams. I then floated them underneath pier to where the old ones were. Next I jacked up the 30' sections and removed the old caps and slipped the new ones in, then lowered the floor and fastened the caps to the pilings and the joists. Show less
