I am a junior at SUNY Maritime College.  During my time at Maritime I have been able to learn many things about the shipping industry and leadership.  I have been on two cruises on the training ship which has complemented my education nicely.  I will be going on my third cruise with the school this upcoming summer.  This will complete all sea time requirements for me to graduate.      Maritime has been able to teach me outside of the classroom as well.  As an avid volunteer for school events such as the career fair and community outreach I have been able to better myself outside of the information taught in class.  I am also a captain on the Maritime ice hockey team.  This is another area where I am able to grow in an environment outside of class.  I am able to lead and interact with others in a way that is beneficial to the both of us.    In conclusion as a student of Maritime College I have been able to learn many things both in and out of classes.  I have gained some professional experience as well as practical skills.  Going forward I would like join the United States Coast Guard  and use my skills there.  Hopefully after one more year I will graduate from Maritime College and be able to use what I have learned in my everyday life.
