As quality engineer, my colleagues and I were responsible for all quality related problems that occurred within all production departments at Prothya Netherlands. These tasks included writing events, OOS/OOL records, new procedures and supporting with the validation of GMP equipment, internal audits and GMP document review. In addition, I supported production personnel to resolve any issues that occurred in real time to ensure any problems were resolved efficiently and according to GMP guidelines. As Quality Engineer, I also trained multiple new employees to ensure they were able to swiftly integrate in the company.

As a manufacturing operator, I worked in a cleanroom environment for three different late-stage and commercial GMP projects related to the isolation of specific types of blood cells and cell culture. In addition, I worked on multiple GDP related tasks, such as review of GMP documents, and writing deviations, CAPAs, CRFs, SOP and material specifications. Teamwork was an essential part of this job, both within the manufacturing team, as well as between multiple departments.

During my assignment, I worked at the Applied Stem Cell Technologies (AST) group at the University of Twente. As part of this assignment, I optimized the procedure used for the creation of collagen type I membranes as an alternative for synthetic membranes for the fabrication of organ-on-a-chip devices.

During my internship I worked at the BIOS organ-on-a-chip at the University of Twente. During my assignment, I worked on the production of “cell sheets” of hCMEC/d3 cells. These cell sheets were transferred using a “plunger” in combination with temperature responsive polymers to other well plates. The final goal was to integrate these cell sheets in a blood-brain-barrier-on-a-chip device without disrupting the monolayer and therefore eliminate the need for synthetic membranes.
