Shift Manager
CurrentMy current role is a Shift Manager on BOC’s Teesside Hydrogen steam methane reformer. This asset produces and supplies high quality LP hydrogen gas to upstream customers. My role requires me to:•Have direct responsibility for the output from the SMR to ensure that customer demands are satisfied in accordance with local operating procedures.•Take preventative measures and subsequent action, as site Main and Incident Controller in dealing with emergencies and abnormal conditions as per site Emergency Plan and Pipeline Plan. •Embrace SHEQ roles including accident & Incident investigation and near miss reporting through Synergi.•Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 & 9001 and support continuous improvement.•Maintain and enhance reliability through management systems such as PWI/LLF, site workarounds, Predictive maintenance. •Assist in the production and management of management of change documents EMOCs. •Liaise with Water Treatment specialists to ensure water quality is in compliance with HSG 274.•Ensure procedures for the handling and storage of hazardous materials complies with COSHH regulations.•Ensure that contractors on site are correctly supervised and comply with all legislation / BOC Safety Standards.•Operating plant efficiently within tight contractual restraints.•Assist with development of process safety systems.•Permit to work issuer. •To work in collaboration with the remote operating centre and the Production and Maintenance teams in monitoring and control of plant operations to meet quality, operational and reliability requirements in the most efficient manner.•Maintaining good communications with internal & external customers to ensure the smooth operation of the business. •Monitor energy usage to ensure that plants are optimized to meet the changing customer’s needs, without compromising the security of supply.•Site responsibility for the safe and effective plant overhauls, ensuring correct equipment isolations and a safe system of work.
