My name is Thomas Coates, I attended Western Michigan University's Haworth College of Business. I graduated in the spring of 2019 with a Bachelors in finance and minors in general business, accounting, and economics. My goal is to pursue a job in Finance starting as a financial analyst. Through my college courses and past work experiences, I have acquired many transferrable skills including:Leadership: To become an Eagle Scout I had to organize and run my own community service project. Before doing this, I use to attend others and learn from them so that when I was ready to do my own I had a better idea of how to do it. From the paperwork to finding volunteers to finding material and raising money, I oversaw the whole project start to finish. Any problems that occurred were my responsibility to handle and see through to the end.Communication: In high school and college I spent my summers life guarding at a public pool that used to be an old quarry. The pool is massive with a deep end at fifteen feet. The water by July had a visibility of two feet. Communication was the most important skill, learning to communicate effectively as one team and handle any situation that occurred.Interpersonal Skills: When I worked as a Cashier/Service person for a pool store I quickly established friendships with the regular customers always being friendly, polite, and helpful. I would often be sent on service jobs to clean pools, pick up filters, or even service deliveries. When at the store as a cashier I would help recommend and find the parts customers needed to best and most efficiently fix the problem they had as well.I am constantly looking to grow my network.
