Primary responsibilitiesHematology, Coagulation/Urinalysis, differentials on peripheral blood and bone marrow, and manual procedures including cell counts on CSF and other body fluids, & special procedures. Perform daily and as needed maintenance on analyzers and equipment, run and record QC on analyzers, replace reagents and troubleshoot various problems. Experienced with a vast array of laboratory instrumentation including STAGO (coag) SYSMEX (hematology) ARKRAY (urinalysis) and ROTEM (real time graph representation of blood clotting process). Perform tests, enter results, look up results for nurses and physicians, maintain work areas, and keep on top of pending logs. (I also have decent phlebotomy skills which are currently not utilized in my present position.) Recognize and report critical values, investigate deltas, (discrepancy with previous results); resolve problems with orders, knowledge of specimen rejection criteria, maintain and troubleshoot equipment, handle phone calls with professional and friendly attitude, know how to access procedures (written and on computer), customer service issues, etc. Provide when needed vital information and serve as a resource to pathologists, care givers, students, new techs, peers, and management.
