I am currently working for URB-IT logistics as a HUB supervisor, where I am in charge of the everyday operation of the HUB. This means managing a team of roughly 15 E-bike couriers, using mapping and dispatch software to plan their shifts, to deliver the best standard of last mile delivery possible around the Liverpool area. Since this is a relatively new company, the main focus was to reach a market positive outcome, where each HUB was consistently making profits, once all other costs were factored into equation. This meant using different metrics and formulas on platforms like Excel and PowerBi to keep a close eye on costing, and adjust the operation to meet these needs. Other duties included daily calls and communication with other sites and levels of management, aswell as site management of all outgoing parcels and vehicles. Sadly, due to the current cost of living crisis and a change in the current market, URB-it did not meet expected targets and has chosen to end all UK operations, in spite of Liverpool’s high turnover and hard work. It is because of this reason that I have chosen to seek employment elsewhere.

For two years I worked for a small family business that sells power tools and manufactures spare parts. In my first few weeks I was picking orders in the warehouse, accepting deliveries and helping the post team dispatch the orders.I went on to became part of the sales team, using the companies websites to fulfil orders over the phone using exploded diagrams and parts lists to find whatever parts the customer needed.I also booked in tool repairs over the phone, arranged quotes, courier collections and processed warranty claims.As well as customers, I had to contacts suppliers regularly for delivery dates and pricing queries.I also used sites like ad-lister, Amazon and eBay to list tools and parts for sale. I was also trained in search engine optimization, optimizing the websites so they have a larger online presence, and can be found easier by customers online.

As a CSM I was one of two key holders for the store, opening and closing on a daily basis, as well as serving the customers.One of my main roles was to manage the self exclusion process for our area, helping customers who felt their gambling had become a problem. This requires a good understanding of customer service, because of the several one to one interactions that need to be recorded with the customer over a period of 6 months to a year, to monitor their progress.I also trained to manage the shop alone, mainly for the first 5 hours of the day, as well as managing other stores on a regular basis.

For five years I worked full time for a clothing company called BlueInc, which had many stores across the UK.My experience there taught be how to become a more successful communicator when working with the public and how to respond to customer queries and/or issues in the most effective and efficient way possible.As well as the roles of a general assistant, I was also tasked with several management responsibilities, such as daily banking, stock analysis, and training new staff to the standards required of the company. As well as my other responsibilities, I was also in charge of several warehouse activities including stock transfers to other stores. On several occasions I had to manage small teams within the warehouse at peak times of the year, to keep the shop floor stocked and the deliveries booked in.In 2016 the company entered into administration and closed all of its stores in the north west, leading me to seek employment elsewhere.Like many retail stores Coral has specific targets to meet each week, as well as several KPIs that all staff must help drive.I left coral during the 2020 lockdown to find full time employment elsewhere, due to all stores closing on for several months.
