I was the PM Anchor for the legendary 1190 WOWO/92.3 FM in Fort Wayne! That means I covered, reported, and produced the news from 3 until 6 PM afternoon, preceded by news gathering and organizing for the rest of my shift.

South Bend, Indiana Area

Did some part time game reports and sports desk work for the South Bend Tribune, where I got better connected to my community and improved my story writing skills.

Greater Memphis Area

I served as the News Director for News Talk 98.9 FM WKIM. That means that I anchored newscasts from 9 AM until 5 PM every 15 to 30 minutes (depending on daypart). I also updated our social media pages and contribute to our afternoon talk shows as a sidekick of sorts.Lost job due to a Cumulus "business decision" (aka a format flip).

Williston, Nd

I covered news for KEYZ AM 660 in Williston, North Dakota as well as short news updates on Z96 FM in Williston and Power 95 FM in Sidney, Montana. I was responsible for the gathering, writing and delivery of news in western North Dakota and eastern Montana. This includes posting news stories to our website and Facebook page.

What didn't I do? I worked for 103.9 WLEN, the 2011 winner of the national Marconi Award for Best Small Market Station. If it's news in Lenawee, Hillsdale, Jackson, Monroe, or even some parts of Washtenaw Counties in Michigan and the Toledo area in Ohio, there's a good chance I knew about it. I was responsible for the coverage of news in my listening area as well as the writing and on-air reporting of news that are of interest locally. I anchored three newscasts a day and occasionally co-hosted an open forum-type program as well as covered local sporting events.

This was my first opportunity to use the skills I acquired in my years of broadcasting to the test in a leadership role. Granted, I was a one man news team, but this was a job where you had to be a real self-starter and a master of your news domain to succeed in. During my time, I dramatically increased web viewership in our news website, started a Prestige Radio News Facebook page, and covered just about every kind of local meeting you can think of, while providing detailed coverage and quality soundbites.

This was a chance to come "home" as well as getting a taste of self-management. Working overnights at J98 FM and KREI AM gave me a chance to continue cultivating news skills I acquired at WCMY and Broadcast Center by delivering live and recorded newscasts six nights a week as well as doing phone interviews when breaking news came across or when assigned a story by our News Director. This job also gave me my first taste at commercial production and some DJ'ing as well. And while here, I was able to do play-by-play for baseball, basketball, and volleyball while also doing color for football and volleyball and live updates from football games we weren't covering on the air.

Ottawa, Illinois

This was my first job in radio and, by far, the best learning experience that I think I could have gotten at the time. I had a chance to work under a veteran News Director that not only knew the area, but really knew what he was doing. Rick Koshko was very helpful in helping me cultivate my interview, delivery, writing and reporting abilities. I learned a lot here, covering city council meetings, county board meetings, and interviewing local and state lawmakers. This job also gave me my first chance at play-by-play when I was asked to step in in a pinch. I did play-by-play and color for football, baseball, basketball, and volleyball here and got a ton of experience in sports in addition to the immense experience I got doing news.
