I worked as an independent Sales agent for CETC, China's first and largest photovoltaic solar module manufacturer. I focused on large scale transactions to corporations and governments in developing areas.

After developing a technology coupled to a chemistry for the rough clean up of waste water from intensive animal farming operations, I joined work to a number of US and international business people to raise capital and become a reporting entity. Trial sites were established in Australia, Vietnam, the USA and Spain. The events of 9/11/2001 led to the withdrawal of funding for these activities in the USA. The company was forced to close shortly afterwards.

With two partners, who dropped off after the first year or so, I developed what was, and possibly still is, the largest vermicomposting operation in the world, consuming hundreds of tonnes of pig and human excrement using billions of earthworms in a mechanised operation that produced high grade vermicompost. My main sources of income came from organising trade shows, conferences and exhibitions, MICE, before the term was coined. I also did quite a lot on staff training for organisations in sales, marketing, safety and business management. It was during this time that I first became involved in helping inventors take their technology to market, and assisting small businesses restructure to a medium sized enterprise. The term SME had not been coined at that stage either!

I received my basic selling skills at Harris Scarfe Industrial and they were very sound skills that still apply today, except my favourite critic will say I talk too much! I became Sales Manager for Bunnings in Darwin, again with an excellent mentor, Colin Coldicutt who, when I ventured into my own business, gave me every encouragement and measure of support. I remember the Timber Manager at my farewell stating that he had often thought about becoming an entrepreneur, but would always worry where his next pay-packet would come from. In shock I realised I never had either! The Universe provides!
