I am a technologist at heart. I love helping businesses embrace technology and watching a company (and sometimes an industry) be transformed. Throughout my career, I have worked in Technical Support, pre-sales Engineering, Product Management, Business Development, Project Management (briefly) and Technical Sales of both software and, most recently, services. Much of my career has been focused on building new businesses for emerging technologies, but the last several years have been focused on implementation of technology rather than the licensing sales. I find it more satisfying to watch a technology be adopted than simply selling a license.I am also a complex problem solver with an attention to detail. I recently started evaluating coins from my father's collection, and have actually enjoyed reviewing nearly 3,000 wheat pennies for dates and mint marks. Sadly, there were no steel 1943 pennies, but that wasn't actually a big surprise.I still use my music training with church music and the occasional teaching opportunity with musical theatre. It is always fun for me to find an appropriately placed augmented 6th (Italian, French, or German) in a well-written hymn, and those fleeting moments are the details I like to find.My weekends are often focused on cooking, as I like to experiment with grilling and barbecue. Houston affords a lot of days that are conducive to cooking outside. One of my best decisions (and recommendations) with an outdoor kitchen was a small tank hot water heater and a dishwasher outside. It saves a lot of dish traffic and gives me access to hot soapy water for cleaning grills and smokers.After the Texas freeze, I took the opportunity to learn to repair plumbing with flexible piping and snap connectors. I find it satisfying to be able to fix small things around the house, and actively seek chances to assist neighbors and friends with small plumbing repairs.I believe in lifelong learning, and I also believe we are never too old to discover a new passion or rekindle an old one. I look for opportunities to do both!
