At my current school, Audenshaw, an 11-18 all-boys school in Greater Manchester, there is a very rigorous staff appraisal process and through these formal lesson observations, I have been consistently graded as an ‘outstanding’ practitioner and commended for my professional practices. I was delighted when Ofsted also graded me as ‘outstanding’ during their inspection last term. I teach the subject from key stage 3 through to GCSE level. I am also involved in the schools extra curricular sport programme; I am the coach of the U12 rugby team and referee their fixtures on Saturday mornings. I am responsible for coaching many of the lower school football teams and coached the U12 team that went on to become English Schools 5-a-side Champions in 2012. The same team also reached the last eight in the National Cup last year. I also coach the 1st XI cricket team, who made the finals of the Lancashire Schools Cup. I have also successfully taken on the responsibility of coordinating the schools year-round inter-house sports programme.
