Actuator Modeling and Performance Engineer in the Guidance, Navigation and Control Group. Responsible for developing MATLAB and C++ mathematical models for electromechanical and electrohydraulic actuator systems. Emphasis on nonlinear model development, system parameterization, control loop design, performance analysis and model validation. Development of constitutive equations of actuator systems including coupling with vehicle dynamics, slosh modes and bending modes. Subject matter expert on brushed and brushless motor commutation dynamics including field-oriented control, trapezoidal control, chopper control, and stepper motor control. Subject matter expert on actuator stability analysis using open-loop and closed-loop methodologies. Responsibilities have included:- Lead dynamic performance analyst for over 20 different actuation systems which have flown on over 100 missions including Pegasus, Minotaur, Antares, targets, and interceptors. - Three-phase motor control loop design, commutation logic, and resolver demodulation logic for five electromechanical thrust vector control actuators used on Orion 50XL, Orion 38, STAR48BV, OmegA RL10 (cancelled) and OmegA GEM63XLT (cancelled).- Control loop design for five electrohydraulic thrust vector control actuators including Orion 50SG and Orion 50ST. - Developer of commutation logic for stepper motor based boom actuator on MEV.
