The more people we can touch with education around mental health, the closer we will get to breaking the stigma associated with it. My aim is to create opportunities for management, team leaders and individuals to attend Mental Health First Aid trainings and encourage an environment where you are able to comfortably discuss stress, anxiety and other mental health issues that may impact colleagues, and then learn the tools to assist those that may require support.A broad life, work and volunteering experience has exposed me to a range of situations where caring and practical mental health understanding is invaluable. My early training was in a hospital environment as a Registered Nurse concentrating on critical, coronary and surgical care in hospital environments. I also worked in Aged care with patients and families experiencing Dementia, Alzheimer’s and other medical conditions.A change of direction saw me training locally and overseas building a corprorate business where I developed a business based on counselling corporate staff, small business owners and individuals in developing a positive approach to their personal and corporate lives. Encouraging and providing techniques to provide self confidence, body empowerment, and dismantling body image myths for males and females.Breaking down the demands of others and looking after yourself first and foremost both mentally and physically.I was consultant to many local and national companies. An unexpected natural change of direction then developed into an expanded business which designed and manufactured corporate clothing and fashion supplying local and national clients, working with staff in house as well as local, national and international subcontractors.Having sold this business several years ago I now devote my time to my passion which is Mental Health.Working with my skills I now provide Mental Health Training training to corporates, public groups and pro Bono work for charities.I have also actively been involved with sporting clubs and an advocate for the effect of creating a positive environment within team sports and breaking down issues such as bullying, abuse and promoting a better understanding of the mental health of players and staff.I am a Councilor for disaster management.Completed training at the Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience in Team Leadership.
