Responsible for the overall financial operations and global financial reporting of the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital and for ensuring that business is conducted according to regulatory agency guidelines by maintaining accurate regulatory reports. Responsibilities also include the evaluation and monitoring of the operating and capital budgets, results of patient satisfaction surveys, leadership evaluations, quality scores, service line performance and the financial performance of clinical research studies for the Children’s Hospital. Also responsible for supervising the financial activities, evaluating and monitoring the operating and capital budgets, allocation of personnel and other projects as assigned for the Departments of Patient Care and Operations.

Directed financial reporting functions including the validation of the revenue and expenses included in the monthly and annual financial statements for the Medical Center and its affiliate companies, completed the Medical Center’s annual operating and capital budgets. Prepared the annual budget presentation to the finance committee of the board, developed business plans for new and expanded Medical Center programs, directed the completion of the Medical Center’s annual cost reports and third party appeals, managed a team of six employees and a budget of $1.0 million.

Directed all aspects of the Medical Center’s $1.0 billion annual operating budget and $40 million capital budget, including annual projections for inpatient and outpatient volume and revenue, operating expenses, capital budgeting and cash flow. Tracked the operating results and capital expenditures compared against the approved budget. Based on the monthly operating results recommendations were made to senior management to adjust the budget to address needs that were not anticipated in the original budget.

Responsible for the completion of the Medical Center’s annual Medicare / Medicaid and NJ Chapter 160 Cost Reports, calculated all third party liabilities and maintained the corresponding balance sheet accounts, submitted and tracked all of the Medical Center’s third party appeals, completed the Medical Center’s annual revenue budget and monitored the patient revenue on a monthly basis by utilizing a rate and volume analysis.
