Software development for the Subrosource subrogation platform in the Property & Casualty Insurance domain. Some of the highlights:Oversaw from conception to completion a new Guidewire ClaimCenter system integration. The team consisted of project managers, business analysts, part time members, offshore teammates, and contractors. The work required close engagement with customers to gather requirements for new features and triaging issues for multiple applications.Debugged asynchronous and concurrency issues in a Java + Oracle environment. Added retry logic for deadlocking transactions allowing them to run at a later time. The retry logic was enhanced to be configurable with exponential backoff algorithms.Adopted a Gitlab CICD process to run unit tests with each commit: reducing errors, and improving developer productivity. The process prevented a dozen errors from being seen by the customer in new development, and prevented multiple regressions from releasing to production.

Developed a set of Java microservices with OSGi that enabled the asynchronous processing of insurance claims. The services utilized SSL client certificates & mutual authentication in IIS for encrypting network traffic.Built monitoring tools for alerting developers when servers ran low on disk space, preventing applications from going down and interrupting the day. The tools were later expanded to include auditing for configuration changes, as well as checking the database and webserver for new errors.Created a Vagrant box to reduce onboarding times significantly cutting set up time from 1 week to half a day to get a developer deployed and productive.Diagnosed and optimized SQL queries to improve page performance.Performance testing with gatling using key metrics to understand how load impacted each new release.Utilized Jenkins to quickly build and provide feedback to developers after each code push, adding CI/CD to find bugs going into production in much less time.Added new features to a JSP/JSF application within a JEE/Spring environment while working with an agile team.
