Strategy And Business Planning - Advanced Computing Solutions
CurrentResponsible for supporting the Advanced Computing System's strategy and direction for its achievement, including defining KPIs and measuring organization and business results. Act as a key advisor to the Advanced Computing Systems GM in influencing the strategic direction of the business.
Senior Manager, Pricing And Analytics
- I started with Poly in July, 2020 where I remained until Poly was acquired by HP in November, 2022 - I led the Pricing and Analytics team who were responsible for supporting multiple initiatives related to price management and business intelligence. Key initiatives include supporting the rationalization of price lists, detailed metrics on margin and discount performance, various projects aimed at reducing our inquiry to quote time and automating manual processes such as price list validation, deal score reporting and corporate revenue, margin and discount reports.
Director Of Pricing
The central pricing team led initiatives in price matrix optimization and implementing multiple strategies addressing margin leaks. Some strategies support local markets and their particular nuances while others are focused at the enterprise level. We were also leading a price champions initiative that standardizes the skill-set for our associates with customer-facing roles. The team is also leading the development of measuring and reporting tools that help our markets swiftly identify and react to opportunities.
Team Leader
I had the privilege of leading a newly formed tiger-team that provided the C-suite with recommendations on growth strategies, areas of opportunity and market intelligence with a particular emphasis on strategic pricing. My particular focus was on 5 transformation initiatives including an enterprise-wide pricing roles and responsibilities project (RACI matrix) that touches customer facing to C-suite roles.
Marketing And Business Intelligence
The Market and Business Intelligence group acts as the “point of the spear” for enterprise level strategic focus. I regularly briefed executive leadership on market growth trends, product needs, demands of key technology providers and global project opportunities. I also contributed to the development of a model that identified strategically aligned opportunities based on region, industry and product attractiveness. This model has become a key tool supported with targeted collateral for each defined opportunity such as product application guides, detailed project information and quarterly webcasts.
Strategy And Analytics
The Strategy and Analytics team identified growth and improvement opportunities and drove most of the subsequent initiatives. The team’s genesis began with my original price optimization work in my product manager role. For my first pursuit, I created a data lake containing transactional level data from multiple ERP platforms. The database was tied to an analytics resource that produced innovative analyses of customer, channel, industry and product-line financial performance. The level of resolution quickly caught the attention of senior and executive leaders and became the sole resource for detailed margin reporting. This led to my critical financial analyses for a $900M division while leading/training my colleagues who covered the remaining divisions. As a result of identifying price erosion and margin leakage, the team’s first-year contributions of incremental OI were over $12M dollars. Subsequently, I worked closely with a premier consulting firm to scale up these opportunities and other improvements related to machine utilization, supply chain and product optimization.
Product Management
I started in a newly formed group that was tasked with new product development and portfolio management. My first accomplishments stemmed from recognizing an absence of life-cycle price management. I began with a harvest pricing strategy on a dormant product line and generated >$2M in first year OI with no loss of business volume. Subsequent analyses revealed pricing opportunities that produced >$7M in first year incremental OI. Other key accomplishments included increased aftermarket services, new product launches and Voice of Customer (VoC) studies with subsequent product development decisions. I also supported trade shows with training seminars, booth collateral and white paper presentations. Occasionally I was asked to flex my project management skills in support of multi-million dollar orders for critical service products. This work involved everything from securing raw materials, prioritizing production and engineering, fulfilling customer change requests and keeping internal and external deliverables on track.
