Instructor and course developer for NDPTC FEMA-certified courses.

I served as NDPTC's Course Development Program Coordinator from March to July of 2016. This role was a promotion from my initial role as Weather and Climate Program Specialized and it added additional duties related to developing non-weather courses, managing a group of UH graduate students, and managing NDPTC internship program with the US military academies. I left this role in the summer of 2016 out of desire to expand my knowledge of risk management practices at RMS in Hoboken, NJ.

This exciting role brought me from State College, PA to Honolulu, HI to develop the first standard instructor-led, FEMA-certified weather courses for first responders. I served as a meteorological subject-matter expert, project manager, and instructor for each course and often traveled to instruct each course or to evaluate the instructors. This role allowed me to serve as an instructor for numerous course deliveries and personally instruct over one thousand first responders across the CONUS. I was promoted from this role in March 2016 to become a Course Development Program Coordinator.

I was a Solutions Analyst specializing in Applications/Technology for Risk Management Solutions in Hoboken, NH from August 2016 to August 2017. This role was a part of RMS' "New Grad" program and it included a 6-week training course in all risk management fields, including risk modeling, capital markets, and primary/reinsurance. Following completion of the program, I chose to specialize in Applications/Technology because it provided an opportunity to develop advanced computer application and coding skills. While I enjoyed my team and my time at RMS, I chose to leave after the first year after being presented with an opportunity to fill a new, exciting role at AccuWeather that was more in line with my desired career path. However during my time at RMS I became proficient at navigating/manipulating databases using SQL, troubleshooting primary/reinsurance-related queries, and providing advanced customer support.

Following my graduation from Penn State, I accepted a role as Inside Sales Representative from AccuWeather Enterprise Solutions. The role blended my knowledge of meteorology with the opportunity to interact with businesses and learn about their needs for meteorological support. I found the role to be especially challenging given my lack of experience in sales and I enjoyed the opportunity to directly speak with safety & security leads at major companies throughout the world. I left this position after being offered an attractive role as a FEMA course developer in Honolulu, HI with the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center.

My time at Centre LifeLink EMS was one of the most enjoyable employments I can remember. Centre LinkLink offered me the opportunity to work as an EMT Instructor, CPR/First Aid Instructor, non-emergent medical van driver, 9-1-1 response EMT, and event EMT. These two(ish) years allowed me to develop strong instructional, personal interaction, and teamwork skills that have been infinitesimally beneficial so far in my career.

Provided emergency medical services as a basic life support (BLS) provider on both BLS and advanced life support (ALS) ambulances; additionally served as EMT-B and CPR/First Aid instructor.

This volunteer experience with the US National Weather Service Weather Forecast Office in State College, Pennsylvania was performed simultaneously with the Penn State Office of Emergency Management. The three goal of the volunteer internship were to (1) complete projects necessary for Penn State to remain "StormReady"​; (2) develop a student-response and education program for college students to support "StormReady"​; and (3) create an easy-to-follow manual for "StormReady"​ application submission.
