Baffinland Iron Mines - Mary River Mine Site/Milne Inlet Port, Nunavut

Responsible for operating the water/wastewater treatment facilities at project sites on Baffin Island as part of Site Services (Mary River Mine Site and Milne Port Site):• Operate/maintain a newterra ltd. 75m3 Membrane Biological Reactor Wastewater Treatment Plant: Daily monitoring, analysis, and operation of the MBR facility. Daily lab of the final effluent and mixed liquor included; MLSS, filterability, pH, temperature, conductivity and turbidity. Also perform daily lab tests for final effluent (COD, Total Phosphate and Ammonia) to ensure the effluent continuously meets and exceeds discharge criteria in the territory of Nunavut. Operate a manual wasting/sludge press. • Operate/maintain the Corix 75 m3 Water Treatment Plant with coagulation (bulab), filtration (anthracite), clarification, UV and chlorine for disinfection. Also operate the Weatherhaven camp water treatment facility with 2-stage filtration, UV and chlorine for disinfection from a raw water bladder. Ensure that water produced at both plants meets and exceeds Canadian drinking water standards.• Additional duties include; maintain logs of all phases of operations/maintenance, daily data entry to environmental dept., lift station maintenance, operate site services equipment to support operations, load, unload and service aircraft under the instructions of ramp master or designate.

De Beers Gahcho Kué Diamond Mine, Northwest Territories

• Situated at a remote mine site as a contractor from project into production phase, the field operator is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the on-site water and wastewater treatment plants (120 m3/day) and waste management system (two EWS Mobile Incinerator Units). The field operator executes field service duties while operating permanent systems at De Beers Gahcho Kué Diamond Mine, located 280 kilometres northeast of Yellowknife, NT.• Engaged in all aspects of facility operations at the site. Operate and maintain a newterra ltd. Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) wastewater treatment plant and a Clearbakk pressure sand and UF membrane filtration water treatment plant with 3 stage filtration, UV reactors, and chlorination. Both plants produce water/effluent that are in full compliance with all aspects of Territorial/Federal regulations. General duties include; daily data reporting (raw/treated water), flow/level monitoring, chemical addition, regulatory sampling, ISO 14001 diligence, inspections, sewer lift station maintenance/repair etc.

De Beers Gahcho Kué Diamond Mine, Northwest Territories

• Responsible for the daily collection and incineration of on-site domestic solid waste. Following collection, weighing, and incinerator loading, a thorough inspection of the incinerator chambers, burners, fuel lines, vents, panels, and refractory is performed before burners are engaged. In addition to the collection of solid waste, the field operator is also responsible for sorting and segregating recyclable materials, auditing bags of solid waste and working with the De Beers SHE Department and contractors to promote and implement the on-site waste management policies and practices.Main duties include:• Following De Beers site safety procedures, operations of rentals and permanent systems, troubleshooting/repair, installations and retrofitting of existing systems.• Reporting on all business activities in the field (customer’s issues / equipment etc.).• Maintaining an in-depth relationship and working alongside other site staff (Operations/Logistics, Management, Environment & Site Services).• Supporting rapid sales growth in rentals and permanent camps.• Supporting and troubleshooting systems in the field as necessary.

The Public Works and Utility Operator II is the staff technician responsible for the maintenance and day-to-day function of the Town of Sundre drinking water distribution system, as well as the Town’s wastewater and purification system. The Operator II organizes and implements maintenance and repairs as needed in accordance with annual plans or with day-to-day repair requirements. This position also works hands-on in conducting pipe and hydrant leak detection, testing, flushing, quality testing, damage repairs, valve exercising and repairs, installations, communications with contractors and citizens, and complaint resolution.
