CurrentWorked with an interdisciplinary team of engineers and scientists to design, develop, test, and manufacture a next-generation reusable N95 respirator intended to be reused and reprocessed via washer-disinfection and autoclave sterilization. Currently supporting efforts to complete testing required for FDA authorization of reprocessing claims. Project funded by BARDA. Awarded US patent for Reusable Respiratory Protection Device. US Patent NO: US10835704B1 (2020)Primary Investigator on research project to assess the durability and level of SARS-CoV-2 contamination of N95 respirators used by healthcare workers in emergency room facilities. N95 performance was assessed by measuring breathing resistance (mmH2O) and particle penetration (%) using a TSI 8130a. SARS-CoV-2 contamination was measured by RTqPCR. Project funded by NIOSH.Supportive role in proof-of-principle research for a powered air purifying respirator (PAPR) for canines
