The Adelaide River Off-stream Water Storage (AROWS) project will stand as a beacon of innovation within the Darwin Region Water Supply Program, offering a sustainable solution to meet the long-term water needs of the Darwin region. By leveraging the natural contours of a ridge basin near the Adelaide River, AROWS will avoid disrupting the river's flow, ensuring minimal environmental impact. Through strategically constructing two low-lying dams, AROWS will capture excess water during the wet season, supplementing the region's water supply without impeding natural waterways. Utilising a controlled pump system, water will be drawn from the Adelaide River during peak flow periods and stored within the AROWS basin. This stored water will then be conveyed via a newly established pipeline along the Stuart Highway to the Strauss Water Treatment Plant for purification and distribution. With the capacity to process an additional 60GL annually, the expanded water treatment facility will seamlessly integrate AROWS into the existing infrastructure. As AROWS progresses through Stage 1 of the Darwin Region Water Supply Program, meticulous planning, comprehensive investigations, and proactive engagement with stakeholders and the community will be paramount to its success.

Wicklow.Attended Committee meetings and informed the locals on current legislation and planning laws in place and identified various paths the committee could take to try and achieve their goals.Carried out a Stake holder analysis to identify the individuals and groups that were most at risk if the route were to proceed in its proposed direction.Identified potential hurdles for the proposed routes going ahead form EU laws:- Great Crested Newts were identified as inhabiting areas along the proposed route and are a protected species under EU law.- The Motorway was to be placed within 70 metres of a Primary School and this was not allowed under EU Law as the noise from the passing cars could affect the cognitive functions of young children and act as a deterrent to learning.
