The festival was produced over the course of three consecutive Sundays and Mondays, September 8, 9, 15, 16, 22 and 23, 2019. As executive director it was my job to help integrate several goals: to increase regional and local community visibility and awareness of The Jewish Federation of Western Connecticut through expanding the scope and marketing of their 7th film festival as well as relocating the event to the JFed’s facilities in Southbury CT. The festival was expanded from 3 films to 40 films by leveraging relationships with half-a-dozen distributors in the United States, Europe and Israel. Submissions were accepted period is for only 30 days. This was the first year for open submissions. A full production with integrated branding, a website, ticketing, volunteer coordination, programming, marketing and events all had to happen in three months. The Federation had previously worked with a small group of volunteers who “jumped ship” at the last minute over disagreement with the expansion of the event. The festival attracted new attendees and participants from Philadelphia to Boston. Show less
