Currently working as a Senior Cloud Engineer, leading an engineering effort to design, build and support native public cloud services and their enterprise adoption. Further to recent announcements on the banks strategic partnership with Google Cloud I work on engineering platforms to allow the enterprise to consume cloud. Helping drive everything as code principles predominantly via HashiCorp's Terraform, Packer and heavily using GitHub actions to orchestrate CI/CD pipelines.Alongside this and in addition to being an engineer, I take on the additional responsibility as the Scrum Master for the global team facilitating and helping lead our DevOps transformation. Providing me experience with leading Agile practises and ceremonies.I also engage in mentoring and coaching less experienced engineers. Holistically I hold both depth and breadth in a number of engineering competencies.

Worked in a global team to engineer the banks flagship application platform utilising Kubernetes, OpenShift and AVI Networks which hosted 10,000’s of containers. Developed my capabilities in cloud technologies and monitoring stacks as well as Prometheus and Grafana all whilst automating enterprise grade cloud Linux environments though Ansible.As part of my time in this role I also achieved Microsoft certification in Azure Fundamentals as well as Azure Administrator Associate. Based in London, I worked within the banks Global Data Insights team located in Dublin as a junior Data Scientist. I helped develop Python based Machine Learning models as well as other technical solutions to gain insights from unstructured data. This allowed me to develop my technical knowledge of Python data science packages such as NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, Mayplotlib and TensorFlow to name a few whilst utilising Jupyter notebooks and Anaconda.

During 2014 and 2015 I held a weekend role at Topman in Cambridge City centre. I adapted a strong awareness of local knowledge to help assist the various groups of customers who enter the store. Whether that be specific for the many Cambridge University students seeking suits for the latest ball or international tourists with little English knowledge seeking presents or clothing for the days weather. Ensuring the customers remained at the forefront of both mine and the team's mind whilst ensuring stock levels are maintained were daily balances that had to be juggled. I aimed to be a proactive and flexible member of the team who adjusted to overtime and late and early shifts in response to the footfall and peak times the central city store operates within. My ability to react quickly to changing situations, languages and the local weather to deliver customer's expectations is was tested at Topman.

Exploring the career opportunities within Barclays UK and Barclays International ranging from Investment Banking, Barclaycard and the FinTech innovation and accelerator programme Barclays promotes via its 'Eagle Labs'. I had the opportunity to work shadow and network with a range of business representatives to develop my understanding of the career opportunities within the financial services industry. As part of the week we had the opportunity to devise and present a FinTech solution that would disrupt the nature of the current industry. As a result of the challenge, my team came second in the competition.

During an undergraduate programme hosted by Three (Hutchison 3G UK) I joined a team of employees from across the business at their head office in Maidenhead. Our task working as a group was to deliver an interactive workshop for school children (Year 10 / 11) based around Online User Experience (UE / UI design). The Reimagined Learning programme aims to encourage and inspire the youth of today to consider careers within the IT / Telecommunications industry. I gained invaluable experience from Three employees whose roles varied from technical roles in the Networks and Digital side of the business and contrasting those in the Legal, Financial and Customer Service divisions of Three. My presentation and team working skills were tested by embarking upon the challenge and delivering a polished workshop that had to adjust between the audience of school children and the communication between the professionals from Three. The final part of the programme involved presenting back my experience and what I had gained from the programme back to a panel of senior management from within Three. The opportunity to engage with one of the UK’s largest Telecommunications providers was a fantastic experience and the opportunity to develop both my technical knowledge and skills was invaluable.

I completed work experience at Eurostar's head office in London. During my time at Eurostar I fulfilled many office based tasks such as compiling and organising data on CO2 emissions of air conditioning units based throughout Eurostar’s stations and offices. I researched how Eurostar complies with ISO regulations. Additionally I created a report on the best way to introduce eco-friendly lighting techniques in their 30,000m2 depot in order to reduce CO2 output. As well as this I also researched potential competitors of Eurostar and what they are doing to reduce their CO2 footprint. Finally I was privileged enough to write an article for the internal intranet on ways Eurostar’s employees could reduce their personal CO2 footprint from reconsidering the ways they travel to work to reducing paper usage around the office.
