The tourism and event industries are undoubtedly transforming; to catch up with the changes in consumer behaviours and the emerging trends of multi-dimensional events, new initiatives and attractions are critical to being competitive and sustainable among the other most welcoming travel destinations. A partnership with LINE FRIENDS characters was introduced to the 2023 Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Races, as one of the HKTB’s dragon boat festival celebration programmes to strengthen the festive ambience, which attracted nearly 120,000 overseas and local spectators for the 2-day dragon boat races at Tsim Sha Tsui East Promenade and the 'LINE FRIENDS Hello Hong Kong Dragon Boat Photo Spots' at the Avenue of Stars. The 2023 Hong Kong Cyclothon continued being recognised as Hong Kong’s largest and only cycling event covering ‘3 Tunnels, 3 Bridges’ routes and with the first return of the UCI Class 1.1 Road Race since 2018. About 5,000 overseas and local cyclists from over 10 countries or regions participated in the 7 rides and races, dashed on the city's major traffic routes and passed through various iconic landmarks. To showcase the green assets of Hong Kong, online tour programmes covering a selection of Hong Kong’s countryside have been organised for overseas trade partners and invited media during the pandemic; a series of digital content, containing around 100 selected outdoor itineraries with feature stories and promotional videos, was produced and published via DiscoverHongKong.com for overseas visitors and local citizen to enjoy the Great Outdoors of Hong Kong.
