I spearheaded the launch of the European marketplace for the trading of private company shares. I built out the sales, operations and technology teams in both Germany and the UK, including establishing two separate entities and obtaining regulatory approval to operate in the UK and across the EU. Our technology platform was built from scratch and we successfully designed a scalable solution which could be easily deployed in multiple European jurisdictions. Our sales team was split between Germany and the UK and I was responsible for designing and implementing our go to market plan, focusing primarily on institutional clients on both the buy and sell side. I successfully led the team to launch 9 months ahead of schedule while coming under budget by over €2 million per year. We achieved this by (i) focusing on a regulatory umbrella approach rather than full licensing and (ii) leveraging technology and operational efficiency to significantly reduce our planned cost base while proving product market fit. This included fully integrating a CRM system with our own platform which enabled us to track and convert sales leads more efficiently.

Hybrid role of both identifying and leading the strategic initiatives for the company as well as charged with increasing operational efficiency. Highlights include:- Designed and led the launch of the Seedrs Secondary Market, the first ever marketplace where private investors can buy and sell shares from and to each other.- Designed and led the launch of the Seedrs EIS100 Fund, the first fund product of its kind providing investors with the opportunity to invest in 100 companies in 12 months or less with a single investment decision. - Led the implementation of the company’s CRM system (Salesforce) and learnt basic java script to be able to implement the various software integrations.

I joined Seedrs 4 months prior to launch and was initially charged with building the backend onboarding and investment process. Key highlights include:- The first employee in London at Europe’s largest equity crowdfunding platform charged with building out the investment team prior to launch. - Worked with the CEO to build the company to a 70+ member team with offices in London, Lisbon, Amsterdam and Berlin. - Co-led the company’s Series A funding round which resulted in a £10m investment by two funds led by Neil Woodford and Lord Rothschild. - Built out the investment team from scratch to a team of 10 investment associates. - Designed the platform’s convertible instrument which allows a convertible note to be eligible for SEIS/EIS tax relief as well as the Seedrs ‘cohort fund’ product which allows accelerators to raise funds for their cohort funding.- Designed the entire back-end process for onboarding and verification of each business pitch that goes live on the platform, including designing a cloud based software verification program. - Designed and implemented the process for streamlined due diligence and auto contract generation resulting in our onboarding process being 80% quicker than our nearest competitor.- Designed and led the build of a digital tax certificate solution for claiming SEIS/EIS tax relief. - Media front man for the company including speaking at industry events and appearances on television and radio including CNBC and Bloomberg.
