I represented District 17, which is made up of Lake Quivira, a large chunk of Shawnee and part of Lenexa. I represented around 22,000 hardworking Kansans. I served as Vice Chair of the Insurance Committee and served on the Energy, Utility, Telecom Committee, Financial Institutions and Pensions Committee, and Transportation Committee. I also served on the House/Senate Joint Administrative Rules & Regulations Committee.

SPMI is a leading commercial property management company in the San Diego and Southern Texas areas. Managing a $1 billion portfolio of self storage facilities and multi-family housing. My role at SPMI was to increase net revenue year-to-year through all available avenues. This requires wearing a few different hats, including marketing, technology, revenue management, and operations. This includes: developing/implementing marketing strategies (both digital and traditional), revenue management, technology training and implementation, manager training and maintaining and developing new relationships with our partners and vendors. The company is based in San Diego, CA but I worked remotely from the Kansas City Metro.

SPMI is a leading commercial property management company in the San Diego and Southern Texas areas. I managed both the traditional and online marketing efforts for our three property divisions: self storage, apartments and office space, as well as technology initiatives at the company.

Combine sales, account management and product management and you had my job. By leveraging my experience in SEO and online marketing I helped to acquire new clients for our high-end web development and marketing product, WebWorks. I oversaw the development of the product and finally acted as each clients personal account manager. This included managing the SEO efforts of their website, acting as a marketing consultant for their business and providing them with monthly reports on the growth of their website in terms of SEO, traffic, and leads.I spent a quarter of the day on the phone with clients, half of the day buried in search engines and analytics and the final quarter developing marketing strategies to increase our clients web visibility and help their business grow.

As a GTA I assist professors in an entry-level journalism class, Journalism 301 – Media Research and Writing. The job consists mainly of preparing lectures, running the course website, teaching lab sections, coordinating professor’s schedules, assisting students with assignments and assisting professors with their research.

As a student intern I coordinated the Pizza and Politics program by inviting speakers to the University that would appeal to a broad student base. Additionally, I advertised for the event and ran the event its self. I also coordinated Dole Institute Study Groups, working on all news releases, advertisements and list serves for related events and programs.
