My name is Thomas Sheets, and I am a recent graduate at Western Michigan University’s Haworth College of Business in Finance. I intend to continue my career that will allow me to utilize my social skills and assets that I have developed through my courses and jobs. In 2023, I was recommended by Branch Administration to take over the Learning Consultant role, becoming the sole trainer for branch staff at Macatawa Bank. This position has allowed me to develop a strong presence within the company as I train and develop branch staff to their fullest potential. Hosting additional training courses and being a main point of contact for branch reference. Outside of this, I draft up policy changes in accordance to banking regulations to better serve our customers and employees.In 2021, I joined Macatawa Bank as a Customer Service Representative and began my career in the finance world. With my previous experiences, I was able to catch on quickly and developed strong relationships with both my team members and customers. Whilst I also received operational promotions sooner than the company policy allows, cementing my expertise within day-to-day operations.During my working career I discovered a key piece to my personal values; to not sell my personal reputation just to reach a monetary goal. Throughout most of 2018 I worked as a sales associate for Best Buy, where I was given the largest sales target in the store. Focusing my efforts on the customer and the core values of the company, I was able to hold one of the highest survey scores whilst reaching my targets. Learning to stay true to my word and represent the company in a positive true-to-form light. I gained the ability to round out my selling skills, and overcome objections while also finding solutions for my customers’ needs. Since February of 2015 I have had the pleasure of assisting a paraplegic in everyday tasks. Ranging from helping him and out of bed to preparing meals and do his landscaping. During my time spent I have learned teamwork skills beyond those of a normal classroom, working with someone who is unable to complete basic tasks but still able to communicate their needs and desires.I am always looking to expand my network and opportunities.
