About Thomas De Groote

Co-creation and introducing new concepts and innovative services in organizations and communities run like a thread in my professional career. I was active in the health care sector as a lean coach, program manager, and change manager. In June 2017, I was challenged to pick up trash for 10 minutes, this changed my life! I started to see the trash, and it was literally everywhere!I quit my job and decided to dedicate my life to stop the 10 million kg of plastic from ending up in rivers/nature, every day. In 2019 I founded River Cleanup with a mission to clean rivers! To date we activated +250 000 people and removed 3,5 mio kg of river waste in 100 countries.
