Taggle is a Low Power, Wide Area Network (LPWA) and Location start up that is in the early commercial product roll-out. Taggle aims to be a network provider for the Internet of Things (IoT) and is currently focused on delivering Automated Meter Reading (AMR) to the water industry with early developments in Gas and Electricity.Being a very small startup, my role involved almost all of the early engineering. Initially I had to come up with a design that was physically possible and cost effective to build given technology available at the time. I then had to explain this to our initial investors and give them some comfort that we could deliver a product with the performance we claimed.Once initial funding was secured I then moved in to FPGA / board design to implement an initial receiver design and then an ASIC design to enable our first commercial product. My role then evolved into growing a small team of 3 engineers that was focused on improving the receiver design and developing new devices.Device development focused on low cost, low power (less than ~5uA average current draw) devices with maintenance free operating life times in excess of 12 years.Receiver development focused on improving receiver sensitivity, capacity and interference cancellation. The receiver design as I left it could receive up to 16 concurrent transmissions from devices and has a capacity to support up to 30,000 devices transmitting once an hour.

G2 was a developer of a low power Wi-Fi SoC solution.Being a small startup, my role in the company varied a great deal over time. My initial role was Digital Design Team Manager while also conducting research and development into low power GPS receiver. As we staffed up I moved out of a management role and into senior engineering role.
