Thomas Dick, PhDProfessor, Center for Discovery and Innovation (CDI), Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH), Nutley, New JerseyDr Dick has 20 years of experience in antibacterial drug discovery and R&D program management. Prior to his current appointments as member at CDI-HMH and professor at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine and Georgetown University, Dr Dick was PI at A*STAR Singapore, established and led the Tuberculosis (TB) Drug Discovery Unit at Novartis, and served as associate professor at the National University of Singapore. Dr Dick studied life sciences at the University of Heidelberg as a fellow of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation where he obtained his PhD in molecular bacteriology. He published over 200 papers in the area of antibiotic discovery, resistance and mechanisms of action (h-index 62, i-index 160, D-index 59).TB and NTM drug discoveryDr Dick’s research focuses on the discovery of new antibiotics for the treatment of TB and lung disease caused by Non-Tuberculous Mycobacteria (NTM). At CDI-HMH he established a fully enabled drug discovery platform for the delivery of preclinical development candidates. With medicinal chemistry partners from industry and academia Dr Dick developed an attractive portfolio of repurposing, reengineering and de novo drug discovery projects.
