Taoglas is a trusted provider of antennas, advanced IoT components, and custom IoT design services that helps customers navigate complex RF and wireless systems and brings connectivity solutions to market on time, the first time. I completed an internship in Taoglas during the summer of 2023. During this internship I worked in the lab testing and altering antennas so that they would work in the environment that the customer required. I learned a lot, from skills like soldering, professional report writing, and how to comprehensively test an antenna's ability, to being able to understand the reasons why an antenna mightn't be working satisfactorily and how to rectify that. I also completed the Taoglas intern 'Mouse Project', which is a tradition in the company where interns are tasked with taking a wireless mouse, disassembling and removing the antenna inside, and replacing with a Taoglas antenna of their choice and then testing the mouse's wireless performance in the company's anechoic chamber, in an attempt to improve the device. My attempt proved successful.

Tekpak Automation are experts in the design, development, and manufacture of high-speed end of line packaging machinery. We specialise in customised pick & place solutions for high volume manufacturers of retail packaged goods and pharmaceutical products.I completed a summer internship in Tekpak during the early months of the summer of 2023. In Tekpak I worked on the factory floor getting a first-hand look at the robotic packaging lines being built. My role included the physical assembly of each machine which meant following an extremely precise process to ensure there would be no issues with the machine's operation in the future. As well as assembly, I was given the chance to observe the software engineers who were programming each machine to carry out their work as effectively as possible. I really enjoyed the hands on aspect of this role and the fascinating opportunity to witness and be part of the assembly and programming of a large-scale robotic machine.

Summer internship completed in Kent Stainless, a Wexford company involved in the stainless steel industry at the global stage. I worked as a team engineer, my work included designing and creating new products using CAD (Solidworks and AutoCAD), testing to see whether these products worked as expected, and meeting with clients to discuss their projects.
