I lead MEA Forensic’s Video Analysis group in Canada and am a senior engineer within the Collision Reconstruction group. I am a registered professional engineer in Ontario and British Columbia.Since joining MEA in 2012, I have been doing collision reconstruction work, analyzing evidence such as tire marks, black box data, and vehicle crush. In recent years, I have specialized in analyzing video evidence. I have received hundreds of hours of dedicated training from authoritative organizations such as LEVA, and am a Certified Forensic Video Technician.I have analyzed video recorded by dashcams, traffic cameras, surveillance systems, onboard bus cameras, and cell phones. Common tasks involve stabilizing video, determining frame rate, correcting for lens distortion, and tracking object positions, often with the goal of calculating the motion and speed of objects in the video. These analyses often require recreating events in 3D environments, which can be used to create powerful demonstratives.I am involved in various aspects of MEA’s research. I have published papers on the accuracy and limitations of black box data from cars, as well as the naturalistic accelerations of drivers making left turns. I am currently researching accuracy of vehicle placement in reverse projection analyses, and the typical accelerations of drivers making right turns.
