The challenge was two-fold: one.) convince current die-hard Islanders fans who primarily reside in Nassau and Suffolk counties on Long Island (and drive and park to the games) to instead take a 40-minute train trip to Brooklyn via the Long Island Railroad and, two.) attract Brooklyn residents who are new to the sport of hockey to become Islanders season ticket holders. By the end of the Islanders first full season at Barclays Center, the team was regularly selling out the arena and the relocation to Brooklyn has been met with very positive reviews by fans and media. -
