ResearchMy research is focusing on how companies can design and manage their operational capabilities to support their strategic direction. Within this field I am especially interested in understanding how product, service and process architecture can be designed and configured to support responsiveness, flexibility and customisation. My particular interest is on understanding how principles of modularity can be applied to the design of product, service and process architecture to support these objectives.Current project - Servitization as a driver of competitivenessManufacturers are increasingly directing their attention to services as a strategic response to competitive pressures. Firms are targeting the potential of value propositions in which products and services together form integrated solutions. While there are clear potentials of this transformation known as servitization it is a challenging task for manufacturers. It implies that they adjust their business model and requires a different strategic mind-set as well as new operational capabilities and alignment of organization and incentives.TeachingI currently teach courses at the bachelor, master and diploma programs within the subject areas of Operations and Supply Chain Management, Management Accounting and Managerial Economics. These areas deal with the challenges of enhancing competiveness by improving operational effectiveness and efficiency. This involves identifying and analysing trade-offs between key decisions, which impact multiple dimensions of performance such as flexibility, speed, dependability, quality, and cost.
