CurrentProviding consulting support and field oversight at two sites under the Superfund Technical Assessment & Response Team (START) Program:• Kalamazoo River/Enbridge Oil Spill at Marshall, MI Working for EPA to provide emergency response and assist in compilation, evaluation, and interpretation of surface water and sediment analytical data immediately following the spill. Member of the Submerged Oil Task Force charged with assessing and mapping river locations where submerged oil deposited after the release of approximately one million gallons of crude oil. Responsible for daily preparation of 214 reports for EPA Operations Chief.• West Branch Grand Calumet River/Reaches 6 and 7 at Hammond, IN Assisting EPA’s Great Lakes National Program Office (GLNPO) to characterize the surface water, sediment, hydrogeology, and subsurface conditions along this historically industrial urban river corridor. Techniques include: 3D visualization of sediment PAHs levels using data from DART Probes; Darcy Flux measurements of the groundwater/surface water infiltration rates; sediment pore water sampling and analysis using SPE; and vane shear testing of undrained shear strength of the subsurface sediments/soils.
