In this position I am responsible for all software development technical issues related to the products produced inWaterbury. These are currently the ABC200, and CBC200/300 cluster tool products, and the C4 toolset cluster material handling unit, as well as the CB (Chamber Bonder), BA (Bond Aligner), andother processing modules that work within a cluster tool system. I manage a group of six software engineers and until recently one software test engineer within the product development department.We handle all strategic and custom software work on the tools, maintain the software, and provide manufacturing and service support.In this role I received an “Unsung Hero” award in 1997 and again in 1999.

At SUSS Microtec (then Karl Suss) I was responsible for a variety of software projects related to semiconductor processing tools. Some are:· An application for a wafer prober that shows a video image of a wafer through a microscope and allows you to move a probe tip to any position you can see by just clicking on that position in the video image.· A video prober that can automatically recognize test points using image recognition, then use autofocus to determine the Z coordinate of the test point relative to the probe tip, then lower the tip into place with a defined amount of overdrive.· Assisted in a redesign of the entire probing system. I developed a common messaging system for an application suite for prober products, as well as the main application in the suite.· I was in charge of development of the first cluster tool created by Karl Suss. I and one other developer wrote the entire software package, which went on to become the base software for the ACS200 and subsequent cluster tools.

I completely rewrote a DOS version of software used for analyzing brain scan slices, converting it toWindows 3.0 and C++. I then enhanced the software, adding tools for 3D visualization of stacked brainscan slices.
