He went on to study at Clarkson, earning a dual degree BS in Electrical & Computer Engineering while also working in Manufacturing enterprises to gain experience during his studies. After college Tom worked 8 years for the Navy(DRC) on Nuclear Ballistic Missile Guidance Systems (also earning a MS in Eng Mgmt and PhD in Industrial Engineering at Northeastern). Tom then discovered a passion for the Medical field after his wife survived a life threatening health crisis. Tom spent 13 years in the Medical field (also earning an MBA in Marketing at Auburn, and several Professional Certifications in the Eng/QHSE/Lean Mfg field). He then moved to Florida to be near family and work in Subsea Technology (ODI/Teledyne). Since 2015 Tom invests/operates small manufacturing enterprises and provides executive level consulting expertise in Lean Innovation Manufacturing systems, QHSE, and R&D.On the personal side, Tom actively supports local efforts to promote the manufacturing industry and best practices, working with the VMA since 2008 (200+ member companies...vmaonline.com), starting in the Manufacturing Excellence Division, rising to VMA Chairman for 2015/16, and Past Chairman the following two years. Since 2012, Tom has also served as a Technical Advisor to Volusia public schools and several local colleges in the areas of Engineering, Workforce Development, Human Factors, and Entrepreneurship. Tom has been honored with a number of civic awards for his contributions to manufacturing growth and fostering STEM careers for young men and women.
