Maintained existing Cloudera Hadoop Big Data implementation of a DoD wide risk scoring tool. This includes monitoring and troubleshooting HBase, Pig and Hive scripts, Zookeeper issues, and clustered MySQL implementations in production and lab environments.Installed and configured new Big Data implementation for the Defense Information Systems Agency. This implementation is loosely Cloudera based and includes various tools from the Apache Hadoop ecosystem including Accumulo, Storm, Kafka, JBoss, and Puppet, as well as the relational databases MySQL and PostgreSQL.Created multiple training/sandbox labs for DBA staff including Big Data labs using Cloudera and Hortonworks implementations of Hadoop as well as relational databases including Oracle 11g and 12c, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and 2012, MySQL, PosgresSQL.Created applications for automatic hardening of OS and Database products. Analyzed and applied DISA STIGs to NESSS, one of the three general ledger systems in the US Coast Guard. This included the application of STIGS to the current Oracle 10g database as well as the planning and coordination for the application of STIGs to the upgraded Oracle 11g database, and all development, test, stage and failover databases.Performed regular reviews of DHS Hardening Guidelines and made changes, as appropriate, to databases/application servers. Consultant for Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare. Aided in design and creation of CCIS - Child Care Management Information System, a web based system for daycare providers to manage open slots and state payments for services provided to low income families. Responsible for “Payments” components which calculate encumbrance of state funds, state versus client payment responsibility and actual payment of funds. Responsible for design, development and maintenance of the CCIS web based search engine. This enables various parents and child care providers to find each other based on geographic, child age, and child needs data.
