Hi, I'm Thomas, an incoming first-year MSCF student. I am actively seeking a summer 2025 internship in quantitative research or strats and modeling.I also did my undergraduate studies at CMU, where I was an honors mathematics student. Through my coursework, I developed a deep understanding of the core areas of mathematics, as well as a strong foundation in computer science and computational finance. Beyond the classroom, my two summers of mathematics research have prepared me for a career in quantitative finance. During my first summer of research at KSU, I participated in an Abstract Algebra REU, culminating in a presentation at the 2023 Joint Mathematics Meetings and a paper accepted for publication. The following summer, I was selected for a research fellowship in Partial Differential Equations at CMU, which became the basis for my Mathematical Sciences Master’s Degree Thesis. Outside of academics, I participated in the CMU Quant Club and the CMU Filipino Student Association, where I was Treasurer my sophomore year and Vice President my junior year. These experiences honed skills that will be invaluable in future career: creative problem-solving, collaborative teamwork, and the ability to communicate intricate concepts clearly. If you are looking to hire a summer quant intern who has a deep understanding of mathematics and a passion for problem-solving, feel free to directly message me or email me at thorstka@andrew.cmu.edu.
