Barclays Techstars London 2019 Alum - Graduated in 2004 from Teesside University with a degree in Information Technology. After graduating, I decided to start my own business after doing a placement year while at University. I didn’t enjoy the corporate environment and decided to make my own thing happen. It was then I met with the people in the Academic Enterprise department who introduced a scheme to help graduates start their own business. I started up Thap Ltd with a friend, Adam Paxton, after deciding that two heads were better than one. After a rollercoaster ride building the company which included nearly burning our building down with a free coffee machine from Staples, nearly going bust after a customer landed us in it and various other mishaps, I sold to Clicksco and joined the board as CTO.After five years as Clicksco CTO, I'm now a non-exec helping Clicksco and founding my own company called Paid. Paid is the culmination of my experience running a small business and working for a larger company. Paid allows small businesses to never worry about being paid on time. We advance funds on project completion and handle the collection of client payments.
