Hello, my name is Thomas, and I am a dedicated Support Worker, Counsellor, and Social Worker with a passion for helping people. I have a Bachelor of Social Work degree and a Diploma of Social Science degree from Western Sydney University, and I have extensive experience working with clients of all ages, including those with mental and physical health diagnoses. My career has allowed me to support individuals facing diverse challenges, including family violence, substance abuse, homelessness, bullying, suicidal ideation and complex mental health diagnosis. I have also managed stressful and emotionally charged situations effectively, ensuring a supportive and collaborative environment for clients and colleagues alike. In my roles as a Counsellor at Yourtown & Kids Helpline and a Telephone Crisis Supporter for Lifeline, I provided counselling and emergency intervention to young people and crisis line callers. I conducted risk assessments, implemented suicide prevention strategies, and have received positive feedback from clients on the quality and effectiveness of my counselling sessions. I value this feedback dearly and often reflect upon this to inform my practice while reminding myself of the profound impact an honest, open and caring conversation can have. As a Disability Support Worker, I had the privilege of providing hands-on support to young and aged clients with complex mental health diagnosis and physical disabilities. I am grateful for the experience of being able to make a meaningful impact on their daily lives by assisting with daily activities and advocating for their needs. Being able to witness their progress and growth has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my career, and it has allowed me to develop a deep appreciation for the resilience and strength of individuals facing significant challenges. In addition to my academic qualifications, I have received training in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills, Domestic Violence Aware, Mental Health First Aid, and Mental Health First Aid for Suicidal Persons among various additional modules completed from the Mental Health Academy.I am committed to providing exceptional service, making a positive difference in the lives of those I work with and learning from those who I support.
