Thomas Ahearn worked for Employment Screening Resources (ESR) as ESR News Blog Editor and Social Media Manager. The ESR News Blog provided information about the background check industry to employers, HR professionals, recruiters, and consumers. ESR News covered a variety of topics including Ban the Box, credit reports, criminal records, data breaches, drug testing, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), E-Verify, Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), HR technology, identity theft and fraud, jobs reports, lawsuits involving screening, Millennial workforce, privacy issues, social media background checks, and workplace violence. As Social Media Manager, Tom oversaw the ESR presence on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter, as well as Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and marketing automation. He also updated content on ESR websites, produced in-house ESR webinars, managed ESR newsletters and email marketing, and was admin for the ESR Online Safe Hiring Certification Course. Tom served as one of the Editors for "The Safe Hiring Manual" (both 2nd and 3rd Editions) by ESR Founder and CEO Attorney Lester Rosen. He also acted as Project Manager for ESR's Professional Background Screening Association (PBSA) accreditation and annual SSAE 18 Service Organization Control (SOC) 2 Type 2 data security audits.
