** ALL VIEWS AND OPINIONS SHARED ARE MY OWN **"Champions behave like champions before they are champions."When the late, great Bill Walsh took over as head coach of the San Francisco 49ers in 1979, he inherited a team that went 2-14 the previous season, but he had a plan to implement a new culture and raise the standards of the organization. He introduced the "Standard of Performance", which applied not only to the players and coaches on the field, but to every single member of the organization — everyone in the building was accountable for both victory and defeat. By working together and collaborating with all areas of the organization, clearly communicating expectations, setting a standard, and leading by example, Bill Walsh was able to achieve buy-in and lead his San Francisco 49ers to 3 Super Bowl titles during his time as head coach.As a Talent Acquisition leader, my objective isn't to win the Super Bowl, but to implement a culture that emphasizes collaboration and achieving a common goal, and that starts with building the right team. It takes time, but by instilling a Standard of Performance and fostering an environment where people want to work together, learn together, and grow to become their best selves, our organization will attract and retain the right talent, and will ultimately be successful in the long run. I strive to inspire my team just like Coach Walsh did, and to paraphrase — "if you dedicate yourself to teaching those actions and attitudes that help create a great team and organization, then the score will take care of itself."
